14.08.2008 - R15RRC/p (QSL via RZ3EC) will be active in period 16-17 August, including participation in RDA Contest from OR-20 ( http://www.rdaward.org/rdac1.htm ) The 100 operators with the maximum QSOs in this period with R15RRC/p will receive special QSL directly to their P.O.Box, in case they provide their RDAC contest logs to RDAC contest committee in time. The QSOs with station are valid for Special Award, dedicated to 15th Anniversary of Russian Robinson Club foundation. 15 Years to RRC Award - will be released to everyone, who made 13 QSOs (with Russian Robinson Club Awards programs www.hamradio.ru/rrc : RRA, RLHA, RMA, RFFA (WFF), including KL7DX and other special RRC expeditions) during 2008 year + 2 (obligatory!) 29.07.2008 - KL7DX finished the operation in the air from Chuginadak Island (NA-234) participating in IOTA Contest. Eruption of Cleveland volcano have been covered the team wish ash all the time, while they were staid on the Island. Base expedition camp shut down on 27th with very active Cleveland eruption as a background. Team was evacuated to "Lady Gudny", waiting for them in Skiff Cove. Visiting Nikolsky on the way back to Unalaska, they took a board some Aleutians, required ambulance support. The avia connection in that area is not available still yet because of volcano activity. The team reached the Dutch Harbor (Unalaska) on 28th. All the expeditionary: Yuri UA9OBA, Sergey RA3NAN and Yuri N3QQ are in a good mood and feel well. 25.07.2008 - To celebrate the 15th anniversary of Russian Robinson Club foundation, the R15RRC callsign will be used in IOTA contest. 09.07.2008 - Russians hams landing to Alaska! The Russian Robinson Club members – Yuri Zaruba (UA9OBA), Yuri Sushkin (N3QQ), Sergey Morozov (RA3NAN) and Victor Vasilenko (RU4SU), will mount a Ham Radio DXpedition to the island of Chuginadak – one of Islands of Four Mountains Group (NA-234) in Aleutian islands, from July 21st to July 27th 2008. The DXpedition team will fly to Dutch Harbor, Alaska, sail to Chuginadak island and setup a camp with Ham radio equipment and plane first activity NA-234 running KL7DX - the basic idea is to give ham radio operators all over the world the chance to contact with NEW ONE island for IOTA program – please see WEB-site of expedition www.na-234.com This is a rugged isolated place on our planet and key words to describe how extreme and tough this DXpedition will be are: uninhabited island, active volcano, very remote, autonomous expedition...no 10 stores to shop at...no TV, no TVI, no cellular phones, no girls, no civilization, no nothing… Only rigorous wild nature and cold Bering Sea there is in northern side and North Pacific Ocean in another side. Many km around doesn’t anything that can help us – members of expedition can rely upon themselves and radio amateurs of the world-wide. We have to take everything in to sustain us and take everything off the island when we are through. About Chuginadak Island and Mount Cleveland Mt. Cleveland is a 5,675-foot-tall (1,730 m) stratovolcano on the west side of Chuginadak Island. Chuginadak volcano and an unnamed volcano form the east side of the island – plane to give geographical name for this mountain. Mt. Cleveland is almost perfectly symmetrical and 5 miles (8 km) wide at its base. It is also one of the most active volcanoes in the Aleutians. Expedition also will be search crashed aircraft outrun from USA to Soviet Union during WWII in accordance lend-lease help agreement. 01.07.2008 - WFF ACTIVITY WEEK The "World Flora Fauna" (WFF) activity week will be held between July 2-8th, in corporation with the worldwide program for Nature Reserves and National Parks of International Tourist/DX Association "National Card", and International Amateur Radio Travelers Club "Russian Robinson" (RRC). The WFF Committee welcomes radio hams to take part in the Global Activity Week from their homes or the National Parks and Nature Reserves territories listed in the WFF List. The WFF is a new movement and a new area in Radio Amateur world of DXing. The WFF is a young innovative international award program which they hope will become a popular one for the worldwide community of expedition participants and "hunters" along with already well-known and popular DXCC, IOTA and WABA award programs. Look for stations during the WWF Activity Week to use special callsigns with the letters FF in their suffix giving out reference numbers.
