RDXC-2006 Minutes of Meeting

In 2010 Russia will host the most remarkable amateur radio event – HF World Radio Team Championship, WRTC 2010. As many of you may guess, such a famous contest as RDXC will be included into the list of contests, participants’ selection will be made from. Therefore we hope, RDXC 2007 will get further activity shot, especially from potential WRTC countries-participants. We are sure, they will not be sorry to participate in RDXC…

Let’s look at the RDXC-2006 now.

The last RDXC brought a lot and only positive emotions to its participants. RDXC 2006 took place on March 18-19, 2006. The contest activity grows up steadily, in spite of poor conditions.

RDXC Committee got 2864 log (compared to 2581 in 2005, and 2007 in 2004), including:
  • European Russia – 837 logs
  • Asiatic Russia – 432 logs
  • Foreign participants – 1598 logs.

Please find more details on our participants’ number growth at http://www.rdxc.org/asp/pages/stat_p.asp?ID=0&YEAR=13

There were 7400 participants in RDXC 2006, they made from 2 to 4555 QSO within 24 hours. For sure, new RDXC category – Milti Op – Two TX promoted this high activity. Famous Russian and foreign club stations tried themselves in this new entry, and they did not lose. These were them who stepped over 4000 QSO level. We hope this entry will increase. You are guaranteed for high QSO rate, you will realize your tactical ideas in this entry, and you will score more QSO number there.

We should note increased number of participants with over 3000 QSO (16 stations), and with over 2000 QSO (64 stations) within 24 hours.

Unfortunately, some 20 logs did not reach us, as they were lost due to PC crashes after the contest. We also were not able to get some 10 logs due to antispam protection of your and our Internet providers. Therefore, we recommend that you better use our special WEB log entry form, – in this case we will get your log 100%.

Countries number in RDXC 2006 scored 104, exceeding conventional 100 countries boundary. This happened due to DX-pedition activities of Russian participants - 4J0DX (UA3FDX), 5B/AJ2O (RW3QC, RW3GU), 6W/RW3TN, EY0R (UA4CC, RU3VD, UR0MC), UP5G (RA3AUU, RV1AW), and foreign participants as well: 4U1ITU (F6IRF, SV3SJ, HB9DTM), OH0B, OH0Z, EA6/9A8MM, EA8/DL3KVR, CN2R(W7EJ) ,CT3/DL3KWF, CT3/DL3KWR, CU3W, KP2/K9BZ, J68AS.

We would like to point out beautiful effort of EA6/9A8MM team (9A3AXX, 9A3RE, 9A6XX, 9A8MM) who brought complete MO2T set-up with them! Nice job done guys!

Rare DX countries also joined RDXC 2006: 3A2MG, 3V8SF, 7Z1SJ, 9H1ZA, 9M2CNC, 9M2MT, 9V1YC, 9V1CW, A45WG, A61M, BG1DRJ, CN2R, CT3EE, EA6AZ, EA8AUW, EA8MQ, EP3PTT, EZ8CW, JT1CO, HK3JJH, HC1JQ, HS0AC, KP4JRS, KG6DX, OY1CT, SV9FBG, ST0RM, R1ANF, TA2MW, TA1FA, TF3CW, UK8IG, VR2BG, VR2XLN, VR2XMT, VU2BGS, VU3DJQ, XV9TH, XW3DT, ZA/UT7DW, ZL1TM, ZL4BR, ZS9Z, and others.

Participants from Germany, Ukraine, United States, Lithuania, United Kingdom, France, Italy and Hungary showed very high level of activity again.

There were 77 Russian oblasts/regions represented. 47 oblasts from EU Russia. Only R6P, R6Q, R6W, R6X were not in at all. Two Russian DX-peditions went to the most rare oblast R1P, they were RI1PI (RA9XV, UA9XC, UA9XCW) and UA1QV/1, RA1QQ/1, - we are grateful a lot to those guys who had great courage to move into such a hard climate area in winter time.

There were 30 oblasts from AS Russia. Unfortunately, nobody from R0H, R0K, R0X, R8T, R8V arrived. Perhaps, someone will move into rare R8T or R8V?

Every year we are trying to monitor HF bands during the contest. Especially we pay attention to high scoring participants in LP (100W) and QRP (5W) categories. Our attitude here is that we want to give a chance to everyone who uses exactly claimed 100W (or QRP) power. We want them feel like contesting in the same “weight”, and the entire contest to be a real FAIR PLAY. We made serious log analysis in these entries, and due to some reasons, we had to issue some unpopular decisions. We ask all participants to take it seriously before claiming your entry group. We hope for your understanding.

From RDXC-2007, we are going to open new chapter on the WEB-site, where we ask those claiming high scores to put their setup and antennae descriptions.

Due to the above, we implemented new QRP rule. We recommend to sign /QRP if you are in QRP entry. This will help us and other participants to objectively analyze signal level (see Rule 5.6). Also, we ask you to put your frequency in the log, if you are using CAT system (see Rule 11.13).

In RDXC-2006 you could put your score on the web-site during the entire contest, and watch other results on-line. Try to use this feature in 2007. We hope, this feature increases competition motivations. By the way, we plan to arrange WEB ON-LINE AUDIO for those who will be able to afford this format.

Every year we modify our judging possibilities. Our new logs cross-checking software made it possible to shorten log checking time. We were done with RDXC 2006 scoring in September already! And now, our goal is to do RDXC-2007 within 3 months after the dead-line.

It is our traditional statistics now, - detailed by-band information for all participants! As usual, RDXC Committee provides you with detailed band and territories statistics, rates and errors allocation statistics, etc. We hope, our statistics analysis will help you to improve your score in the next year.

You can see complete RDXC-2006 results, soap-box notes, photos and stories at http://www.rdxc.org. We are glad to see any notes, suggestions and requests, photos, videos and audios on RDXC site.

RDXC Committee thanks all RDXC-2006 participants and invites everyone to join our 14th Russian DX Contest which will be held on March 17-18, 2007.
