ABOUT RDXC-2005 AND ITS WINNERS by Igor UA2FZ
There is no perfection limit! Every new RDXC brings unbelievable surprises.
Moreover, each year we check in new records and RDXC itself sets up records. Look at the statistics: we had 2581 participants in 2005, vs. 2005 participants in 2004! The development is in progress, and this is just beautiful! I do not afraid of epithets, but the RDXC is really the most living and the most amusing contest nowadays.
After scores analysis, one can see, the RDXC 2005 winners made a lot of efforts to develop their setups, to study their last year errors, and to bring out more thought-out contest strategy. Some stations are a few years’ winners in the same entry, so this is not too easy to move them from their “many years home".
Look at the RDXC home page (http://www.rdxc.org ) – it’s full up of many various statistics, data, graphs and tables. This is all about your operation analysis, about your contest tactics and strategy development. Besides the above, there must be one more important thing, - it’s your motivation, and it’s your “tune to win”. Please also see new continental records (http://www.rdxc.org/asp/pages/recs_c.asp), - we hope, this will add you some extra motivation.
WORLD
MOST - It became a good tradition already, when Russian operators activate MS stations outside Russia. UP5G (ops. RA3AUU and RV1AW) set up a new world record with 15.3 M points.
Let’s see what will happen in 2006. EY0R team (ops EY8CQ, EY8MM, EY8BA, RX3APM, UA4CC, and UA4LU) was the second. UU7J ended up at the 3rd place this year, but 1st in EU. A word should be said for glorious Ural-Kazakh-Singapore crew (ops. UN9LW, UN4L, UA9CDC, UA9CDV, UA9CLB, 9V1BH), who flew many thousands miles, activated 8Q7DV and tried to be in the top three. 8Q7DV team without any doubt was honored a plaque for the best RDXC DX-pedition.
SOAB MIX - EX9A, op.Max RV3BA, competed with Ukrainian guy UW3QC, who “accidentally” traveled across sunny Cyprus Island. Max finally won, and, the most pleasant thing, - he broke RA3AUU’s last year record at 9K9X. Number 3 (first in EU) was Igor UT7QF. It is necessary to
note Masaki JH4UYB, who breached through Europeans and Russia’s neighboring Asian stations to 11th place!
LP MIX - Goran 4N0W after being second last year, took the plaque, by the way, without a single contact on 160!!! Zlatko 9A7T and Marko OH4R finished silver and bronze. Kazunori JA1BPA finished in top ten; he was number nine among and ahead of many Europeans!
QRP-MIX - This entry was sponsored by the RU QRP CLUB, first time this year. The first plaque winner is Ged LY9A with impressive score of 1015 QSOs and 2.4Ì points. Simon HA5IW/P finished second with 975 QSOs and 2.315Ì points. The third place went to Vitas LY5G.
SOAB CW - This year Vladimir 9H1ZA was the winner in SOAB CW entry. Darko 9A6DM and Pertti OH0R are second and third, with very close scores.
LP CW - This entry remains the most competitive for a long time. Marko 4N1N won the plaque. Second was Nickolaj UO2M with very high score, and good chances for 2006. Atanas LZ9R was number three this year.
SOAB SSB - Vakhtang 4L6AM confidently was the best in this entry. Nevertheless, the last year ES5TV’s record remains in RDXC files. Jan OZ1ADL and Les SP9LJD are second and third accordingly. Funny! The same two ops were on the same places in the same entry in 2004! Rare consistency, isn’t it? Let’s hope, one of them will take SOAB SSB plaque in 2006 finally. Naomi JA7NVF and Tim A45WG were 7th and 8th.
LP SSB - In this entry Vlad EX2T wins without any hope to Alexander UR7M and Victor ER5DX, who finished second and third.
European Russia
MOST - Famous RU1A team wins the plaque for the 7th time. RL3A crew is again second, but this time they kept hard competition to the longstanding leader. The third was RK3FWA from Nastas’ino village, nearby Moscow. Perhaps (and we’d love to hear that), the competition between these three brave teams in 2006 will be even harder.
SOAB MIX - Sergey RN3QO took the first line here. Albert RA6CM and Igor UA3QDX also struggled for the plaque. Their results say themselves how hot a struggle was. They finished 2nd and 3rd accordingly.
LP MIX - A real battle happened in this entry. 5 stations at once overcame 1400+ QSOs line. Slava RK1AM worked hard on multipliers, and he was right! He lost some 100 QSOs to his pursuers, Alexander RN1NA (2nd place) and Andrey RK4FM (3rd place), but nevertheless, he confidently won with 2.14 Ì points.
QRP MIX - New QRP entry gave additional afflux of participants. Valery RW3AI was the first plaque winner. Chermen UA3BL and Slava RN6AL finished at second and third places.
SOAB CW - Victor UA6AF second time successively won the first place in their dispute with Valery RD3A (2nd place), and proved 100% validity of his claim for the top. CW is “mother tongue” of UA6AF, - he is one of FOC members. Besides the victory, Victor wrote in a new line in RDXC records file! Third was Igor UA4FER.
LP CW - This entry has the biggest number of participants, and the biggest competition level. The complete top ten has compact scores. We see new names on the top, - Anatoly UA4CCG, RDXC 2005 winner. Mikhail UA1QV followed UA4CCG until the last minute, but he lost only 22 mults. RW3GB, in his turn, was close on the hills of Mikhail. Finally UA1QV scored second, and RW3GB scored third.
SOAB SSB - Valery RA3AJ participated RDXC 2005 again, and he was the first again. That was not too easy like before. The last year winner Pavel RK4FD did not want to surrender. Alexey UA6UDV, who left LP SSB this year, was number three in SOAB SSB.
LP SSB - One more new winner name, - Oleg UA4FRL wins RDXC for the first time. Sergey RV3FM scored second, and Vadim RA3WPN scored third.
Asiatic Russia
MOST - RT9W crew made adequate last year score analysis. RT9W are plaque winners and new MOST record holders now! RZ9OZO crew finished second. Note the success of UA0AZA, who finished third. RK0AXX crew was number four this time. The intrigue is not finished yet, as UA9AYA team was not on the air.
SOAB MIX - Yuri RG9A (op. UA9AM) won the entry again, and set up new Asiatic Russia record. Krasnoyarsk guys are noted in this entry as well, - Andrey RU0AW finished second, and Alexander RA0AA finished third.
LP MIX - Sergey RA9WW took this year plaque again, and set up new entry record also. Alex RZ9OO was number two. Yuri RW9IM moved to the third place this year.
QRP MIX - Not too much activity in this entry compared to European Russia. Igor RV9AZ was the first with 808 QSOs, without competition. Second place went to Yuri RA9CEX with 334 QSOs, and third place has Sergey UA9OAL with 206 QSOs.
SOAB CW - Alexander RA9SG won the plaque with 1995 QSOs and 3.8Ì points. Yuri UA9SP had good chances, but scored second this year. Andrey RV9JE finished third.
LP CW - Alexander RA9SO and Anatoly RX9FB combated hard for the plaque. RA9SO won LP CW for the fourth time. RX9FB finished at the 2nd place. Sergey UA9MC was number three.
SOAB SSB - Sergey RW9SW and Alex RW9HA were the main duelists of this entry. RW9SW won the plaque with pretty small advantage. Sergey UA9JDP was the third this year.
LP SSB - Valery RX9AM was beyond comparison in LP SSB. The 2nd place went to Alexander RA9UGR, and the 3rd place – to Dmitry UA9AK.

WORLD - Clubs Competition
This became a good tradition to support home club, and to income a feasible contribution into club score.
In RDXC 2005, Ukrainian CC and Kaunas TU RC were main competitors again, and recruited many of their members to participate in the contest!
The plaque went to Ukraine. UCC was represented by 39 members, against 21 in 2004. KTU RC scored the second place with impressive number of 40 members. Perhaps, RDXC 2006 will highlight key points in club competition. Suddenly the third place went to Crimea Peninsula – to the Crimean Contest Club. There were 37 clubs in RDXC 2005, starting with 2, and up to 40 members.
Our congratulations to the winners and new record scorers!
See you all in RDXC 2005!
