ABOUT RDXC-2003 AND ITS WINNERS by Igor UA2FZThe Jubilee 10th RUSSIAN DX CONTEST once again confirmed its fast developing Contest image. The number of participants increased by over 20% compared to 2002. For the most of Russian hams RDXC is the main event of the year. We hope, that new created SRR award program will stimulate further growth of participants from all over the world. As we can judge from the results and new records, "Heavens Office" took a good care of our favorite contest and presented us a few lucky hours of HF DX propagation. There were a lot of loud NA stations on 10 and 15 meters in the beginning of the contest. But nevertheless, 20, 40 and 80 meters gave us greater number of QSOs. What will be RDXC-2004 like? The reply is round the corner. Please note the date of your ham festival - Russian DX Contest – 20-21 March, 2004. Please, see section TROPHY – the number of prizes permanently increases, in spite of decreasing solar activity index! Well, what remarkable happened in RDXC 2003? WORLD MOST UU7J Team used their considerable potential and experience. They achieved impressive victory in this entry with good points stock left for LY1YK. Well, there are not only peaches and other good South things in Crimea; - there also live RDXC Multi Op new Record holders! DH1TW Team in remarkable battle with DF0RI was third in this entry. SOAB MIX The main Trophy along with honors in this entry went to George, EX2M, who scored 7.9M points. RA3AUU’s record (OT1T – RDXC 2001) withstood again. Ruslan, UW5Q(UR3QCW) and Paul, HA8JV ended up 2nd and 3rd. MIX LP Indisputable Low Power authority was Tom, SU9NC, who scored new World Record with 6161140 points. By the way, he did not make any contact on 160 meters! Nikolaj, DL5XJ was the second. Ged, LY9A was the third this year. SOAB CW LZ9W, op. Andy, LZ2HM, showed his outstanding will and perseverance, and won this entry with a Record score of 7025204 points. Nikolaj, UN4L and Sam, LY4AA were second and third accordingly. CW LP Vladimir, EW8EW scored surprising result of 4798800 points – this is today’s record. May be forever? Rimas, LY6A and Heinrich, DL2OBF were 2nd and 3rd. SOAB SSB Vladimir, EX2T, with his 4268520 points, won the Trophy among “hard vocal chords” guys. I’m sure, nothing is more helpful, but pure mountains air of his country?. (Look, his fellow-countryman EX2M won SOAB MIX.) To say the truth, LY4AA’ 2001 Record is still unachievable. Roman, RZ3AA this year operated famous 4U1ITU, and apparently emphasized 40 meters. Nevertheless, 2nd place certificate will be placed onto Geneva’ shack wall. Third was Yury, MM0DFV/p from Scotland. SSB LP In support of my “fresh mountain air” theory, and its undoubted benefit for one’s lungs, vocal chords and other organs which generate clear and loud SSB signal, Shota, 4L6AM won this entry not leaving any hope for YO4KBJ, op. Lucian, YO4REC, and Valery, ER1BF. May be, Carpathian air is different from Caucasian air ?? European Russia MOST This entry reminds me of 1980s stagnation in our country. Permanent leader RU1A Team does not leave any chance for their competitors. To tell the truth, there is a hope: RW6AWT claimed 3253 QSOs against RU1A’s 3124 QSOs. Let’s cross our fingers ?, and hope for wonder in RDXC 2004! RO4M (RW4LYL) Team leaded by RA4LW, replaced RL3A from the Top-3 Podium. Remember, RL3A showed good promises in 2002? SOAB MIX It’s restless in “open visor knights” camp. Somebody wanted to conceal his face under “visor”. But he was disclosed and turned back disgraced, without placing him into annals of honors. Let me remind you that sooner or later, all secrets become evident. RDXC-2003 Victory, new Record and Trophy belong to Eugene, RW3QC. His main competitors, Victor RF4R (UA4RC) and Arthur RG4A (RW4AA) were honorary second and third places. MIX LP Igor, UA4FER won RDXC 2003 like he did it in 2002. Andrey, RV3FF wedged himself in between 2002 contended parties, UA4FER and Andrey, RZ4FA. Looks like this is zeroing in before RDXC 2004. SOAB CW Your author, to his splendid surprise, found himself on the top line in this entry. Alex, RZ3AZ made certain claim for the first place with his 1938 QSOs against UA2FZ’ 1824 QSOs. But his result did not stand computer log check, and he lost quite a number of precious points. Finally, UA2FZ was the first with 10.000 points ahead only. Vladislav, RD4M literally extorted the third place from Anatoly, UA4CCG, who was closed on his heels. CW LP Slava, RA1ACJ again was CW LP winner. It looks as if his tendency. But Andy, UA3DPX did not give him a chance to relax. Arkady, UA4CC took tight the third place showing his hints for 2004. SOAB SSB Valery, RA3AJ, durante absentia of RZ3AA, did not leave chances for his competitors, Vitaly RN3ZC and Alex RA6AFB. It looks like Eu Russian mountains residents have to give more consideration to this entry, isn’t it ?? SSB LP Alexey, UA6UDV easily took the first place in this entry. Chermen UA3BL and Yury RA3OU satisfied with second and third places. Asiatic Russia New records in almost all As Russia entries – this was RDXC 2003 leitmotif! MOST I’m sure, nerve-strained fight between RT9W(RZ9WWH) and RF9C(RK9CWW) Teams kept until the last minute of the Contest. RF9C, who from year to year won the main Trophy, could not withstand in 2003. RT9W from year to year are achieving a good pace of contesting. One can’t forget victory’s taste! Battle of giants is already around the corner. Third place were RW9OWM with quite good score. SOAB MIX Ural Mountains guys are fast on the top. The fight was serious. This was a 24H cannonade… I think, I’m still able to hear Willy` UA9AYA huge-antennas-P10-worm-gear-reducers-torque-clacks, and Yuri` UA9AM noise-vacuum-funs-trying-to-cool-down-PA-white-hot-lamps, and Oleg` UA9CDV antenna-switch-board-vacuum relays-cracks ?… Wow, that was a STRENGHT!!! Willy UA9AYA (aka UA9BA) set up a new record and won with 6134373 points. Second and third were Yuri, UA9AM and Oleg, UA9CDV accordingly. I’d also like to mention Andrey, RM0A (UA0ANW) who came fourth and very close to the Top-3 and scored maximum oblast-band points. We’re expecting your 2004 surprise, Andrey! MIX LP Yury, RW9IM with new record of 2602158 points headed SOAB MIX LP Top. 2nd and 3rd were two call-sakes, Anatoly UA9AX and Damir RK9AX. SOAB CW This entry was always highly competitive. Critical fight developed between Valery, RW9TA and Oleg, UA9ZZ. Finally, RW9TA won with less than 20.000 points difference and he set up new record in this entry. Number 3 here finished Vladimir, RZ9IR with respectable 320 oblast-band points. CW LP Alexander UA9CR easily broke away from the main competitors group and he won the first place. Second was Alexander, RA0AA and third was UA9WQK who had real chances for better place. SOAB SSB Gennady, UA9MA with phenomenal 1990 QSOs and 4632462 points set up a new record and took the Trophy. Oleg RW9DX and Sergey UA9JDP were 2nd and 3rd SSB LP Valery, UA9AMF made over 1200 QSOs and made himself sure to be number one in this entry. Vadim, RA9FLW and Vladimir, UA9MAZ were his competitors and finished at the second and the third places.
