ABOUT RDXC-2002 AND ITS WINNERS by Igor UA2FZ

The 9th Russian DX Contest has made everybody happy being very dynamic, and it’s participants' activity was very high. The propagation still was very good and new Contest Records were set by the leaders. 10m and 15m bands were opened to North America at the beginnig and the end of the Contest. The popularity of the Contest is constantly growing up although this year’s growth should be mostly credited to foreign participants.

The organizers have received 1354 logs from World’s 68 countries. There were more than 6000 different callsigns in these logs!

Every RDXC is a major event for Russian participants and many foreign contestmen admit high level of activity from Russia. Nevertheless there was no even a single RDXC yet where all the oblasts and territories of Russian Federation were represented.

This means there are some reserves to be activated. In 2003 Vladimir, UA6LV is sponsoring a Trophy for an expedition to a rare, barely represented oblast. Maybe it will be yours? There are new Trophies for winners established for jubilee 10th Russian DX Contest. Read chapter "Trophy".

EUROPEAN RUSSIA

MOMB In this class the last year’s situation hasn’t practically changed. The "Monster" RU1A (RZ1AWT) sets a new record with an unbelievable result and gets the well earned Trophy. Guys from rapidly gaining speed RL3A (RK3AWL) are the second. RW2F (RK2FWA) gets the honorary 3rd place pushing aside RM6A (RW6AWT). It looks like the competitors have to mobilize all available resources for a victory over permanent leader RU1A.

SOMB–MIX–HP In this sub-group a real drama has unrolled. In an unprecendented fight RW3QC and RK4FF have demonstrated their capabilities. According to submitted results Eugene was ahead of Vladimir by solid 350K points margin. However after a thorough logs re-check (it has to be said, that after computerized check-up, Boris, UA1AAF and Vladimir, RW1AC manually checked the logs twice, beside that there were requests made to confirm contacts with unique callsigns) the winner was announced – Vladimir, RK4FF. Penalty points for numerous errors in the Log, “have eaten” Eugene’s entire resource of would be winning margin over RK4FF. Vladislav, RD4M (UA4LU) was the 3rd .

SOMB–MIX–LP According to number of contacts the sub-group Low Power Mix has proven to be needed. A real battle this time has unrolled between two inhabitants of Penza Oblast . Take a look at the results of the winner and new record holder Igor, UA4FER and Andrey, RZ4FA, who possessed the honorary 2nd place. My hat’s off to them. Same number of contacts and very close results. Everything was decided by computerized refereeing and accuracy in receiving. Yuri, RW3QO, was the 3rd .

SOMB–CW–HP The struggle in this sub-group was mature. Victor, UA6AF has confirmed his FOC skills and possessed the first place. Alexander, RZ3AZ and Vyacheslav, RN6AL have possessed 2nd and 3rd. Here we should admit high operating skills and persistence of UA3TU (4th place) and RT3A (5th place) who were chasing the leaders during entire Contest.

SOMB–SSB–HP Three moscovites-giants were fighting in SSB. Roman, RZ3AA has left no doubts who is who and finished with a new Record and a Trophy. Valery, RA3AJ was 2nd, Sergey, RO3A (RX3APM) – 3rd.

SOMB–CW–LP The major fight here erupted among guys from St.Petersburg. Vyacheslav, RA1ACJ, had set a new record and pushed off his RU1A Team mate Alexander, RU1AA, 3rd place was possessed by Alexander, RA3AF.

SOMB–SSB–LP In this rather difficult sub-group a new Record has been set by Nickolay, RA3FO. Chermen, UA3BL was 2nd, Yuri, RN3OG – 3rd.

SO-SB 160 m – RA3DOX could not break his last year’s Record, maybe 2003 will be more lucky for him? 80 m – we have a new Record here. It’s author – RA3XO. 40 m Record stays unbeaten for many years. RA4UN was the winner here. 20 m has fallen to Andrew, UA3DPX. We have a new Record here! 74 oblasts on 20m – it’s a Record also! 15m – the winner here is RK6CZ with a new record. 10 m – the winner here is RA3DQ.

73!
